BI Zambia is a local non-profit technical services organization, operating in Zambia since 2020. We are 100% African “Owned” & Female led. A team with with first hand experience of the local Zambian context, and multi-country expertise across Sub-Saharan Africa. BI is an affiliate of BroadImpact a Global Development and Business consulting firm.
BI Zambia was incorporated as Brasys Initiatives Limited at PACRA Zambia as a Company Limited by Guarantee with registration number 120200005774. BI is also registered as an NGO with the Registrar of NGOs in Zambia with certificate number RNGO 101/1319/2020.
BI deploys performance monitoring and evaluation and learning services, organisational development initiatives, quality improvement processes and innovative sustainability approaches, in partnership with donors and NGOs, to strengthen public sector institutions, community-based and grassroots organisations in Zambia. Our goal is to increase access to health and social protection services for underserved populations, through the strengthening of program management and service delivery systems.
BI Zambia was selected as a beneficiary organization for the Local Evaluation and Evidence Support (LEES) Effort; a four-year Activity funded by USAID’s Bureau for Planning, Learning, and Resource Management and implemented by LINC, in collaboration with The Cloudburst Group, DevLab@Penn, and Kenyan research organization Infotrak.
LEES represents USAID’s commitment to foster evaluation practices that are geared towards strengthening local capabilities in conducting and leveraging evaluations, thereby reinforcing local ownership.
BI Zambia was contracted by SolidarMed to conduct an Organizational Capacity Assessment (OCA) of the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ). The assessment examined NMCZ’s digital learning systems and ecosystem, identifying barriers and enablers to support implementing a sustainable national eLearning platform for pre-service and in-service nurse-midwifery education.
BI Zambia was contracted by SolidarMed to contribute to the development of a strong digital teaching and learning ecosystem for nursing and midwifery education in Zambia by developing an eLearning strategy and operational plan.
BI Zambia was contracted by SolidarMed to conduct an assessment of SolidarInvest's legal and organizational structures in readiness to function as an independent and creditworthy enterprise. The project is being implemented by a consortium led by BI Zambia, with three members (Hellen Banda & Associates, Renco Associates, and Chaman Consultants).
The Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Training Program is an internally funded program to provide basic M&E training for final year students or recent graduates of Bachelor's Degree program in any Health or Social Science disciplines, who are interested in pursing a career in Monitoring and Evaluation. It is a free 12-week training program towards building key M&E and Knowledge Management skills.
BI Zambia signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Global Health Corps to serve as a Placement Organisation for its fellows. The fellowship lasted for a 13-month period, from July 2022 - August 2023.
BI Zambia was engaged to transcribe qualitative interview data for a research study on DMI’s family planning radio campaign. The study examined the influence of these messages on attitudes and behaviors among individuals and caregivers across Zambia’s Southern, Northern, and North-Western provinces.
BI Zambia was contracted by Chemonics to support LMIS data entry services at the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) central warehouse.
BI Zambia was hired to conduct an evaluation of the impact of a radio campaign on mental health awareness and stigma, the use of self-help techniques, the uptake of self-help resources, and overall mental well-being among the general adult population in Mazabuka, Zambia. The evaluation aimed to assess the campaign’s effect on adults with pre-existing moderate levels of common mental illness (CMI), including depression and anxiety, by examining changes in mental health awareness, stigma, self-help practices, resource utilization, and overall well-being.
BI Zambia was contracted by FHI360 to conduct a series of in-depth interviews and other qualitative data collection and synthesis activities, centred around how Zambia has reached “zero-dose” children and under-immunised communities in Zambia, towards the development of a case study for Gavi. Midwifery Training Needs Asssessment, Zambia, 2021
BI Zambia was contracted by Seed Global Health to conduct an assessment of midwifery training needs in Zambia, to better understand the gaps in clinical training at health facilities and the opportunities to establish a more functional and effective preceptorship program for midwives.

BI Zambia was contracted by CAMFED to conduct a Life Skills Assessment towards measuring agency in girls and young women in 7 districts in Zambia. This utilised a cohort survey approach, with baseline and endline data collection comprising large surveys of over 3000 students across 5 provinces.
BI Zambia was contracted by PEAS Zambia to measure the impact and effectiveness of the PEAS approach by conducting a baseline assessment for its new site of operation, as well as reviewing effectiveness of PEAS’ approach in existing schools.
BI Zambia was sub-contracted by Q3 strategy to conduct data collection activities for the evaluation of the Children on the Move project in Eastern Province of Zambia.
BI Zambia was contracted by CAMFED to conduct an Independent Endline Evaluation of the FCDO funded “Empowering young women to prevent the early marriage of vulnerable girls in rural Zambia” Project. The evaluation included phone-based surveys with Learner Guides (LGs) and virtual interviews with all respondents
BI Zambia was contracted by Leonard Cheshire Disability to conduct the Independent Endline Evaluation of the Cheshire Homes Society of Zambia "Inclusive Education For Children with Disabilities" Programme.
Our Zambia, led by Oxfam aims to build active citizenship and foster social accountability through public debate, civil, citizen and media engagement. The first phase of the project ran from October to March 2020 and was largely well implemented. BI worked with Oxfam to implement the second phase of the project which ran from April to September 2021. BI provided MEAL support to the project, including developing and deploying a robust M&E system for the program. This includes program ToC design and framework development, Media Monitoring across multiple media platforms (TV, Radio, Social Media), Audience Measurement Analysis, Media Efficacy and Compliance Monitoring of Radio & TV Stations.
