BroadImpact conducted an independent evaluation of the Kofi Annan Fellowship in Global Health Leadership Programme (KAF-GHLP). Utilizing the Kirkpatrick Model, the evaluation comprehensively assessed the fellowship’s impact on fellows’ professional growth, leadership capacity, and contributions to public health across Africa. A mixed-methods approach, integrating surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions, was employed to gather diverse insights from fellows, mentors, and stakeholders. Contribution Analysis was a key methodology used to understand how the fellowship influenced wider public health outcomes. The evaluation yielded recommendations anticipated to enhance the program’s overall effectiveness and ensure its sustained impact in strengthening public health leadership across the continent.

BroadImpact participated in a consortium led by IQVIA to pilot Imbizo, a system launched in 2024 as a regular, iterative, and independent feedback mechanism for the Global Fund’s country stakeholders. The crucial insights derived from their feedback were instrumental in generating learnings on the shared Global Fund partnership model. Consequently, these learnings are intended to facilitate and strengthen the implementation of the current Global Fund strategy. BroadImpact, as a local evaluation partner of the Cambridge Economic Policy Associates (CEPA), supported the end-term evaluation of Unitaid’s COVID-19 investments. This evaluation aimed to assess the extent to which Unitaid's contributions have shaped the COVID-19 response and to gauge their sustainability beyond the emergency phase. It also sought to extract valuable lessons and recommendations to inform Unitaid's future endeavors in pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response (PPPR), as well as its ongoing support for diagnostics and medical oxygen provision.

BroadImpact was part of a consortium led by Cambridge Economic Policy Associates (CEPA) to conduct the Strategic Review 2023 (SR2023) for The Global Fund’s 2017-2022 strategy. The review meticulously assessed the extent to which the strategy’s objectives had been achieved, and critically examined the contribution of the Global Fund’s various initiatives, policies, systems, and processes to ensuring their relevance, coherence, and effectiveness. Furthermore, the review was designed to provide actionable recommendations for the implementation of the 2023-2028 strategy and the planning processes for Grant Cycle 8 (GC8, 2025-28). BroadImpact was responsible for implementing the end-of-grant evaluation of the Global Fund and Unitaid co-funded New Nets Project (NNP). The NNP was strategically designed to establish a sustainable market for a broader spectrum of insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) and to enhance access to a new class of these nets through targeted market-shaping interventions. The evaluation rigorously assessed the overall performance of the NNP across all 14 project countries in Africa, with a particular focus on gaining deeper insights from case studies in specific countries. BroadImpact undertook the evaluation of Unitaid’s Paediatric TB portfolio, a comprehensive assessment encompassing several key projects. This portfolio included the “Strengthening Paediatric TB Services for Enhanced Early Detection (TB Speed)” project, the “Catalysing Paediatric Tuberculosis Innovations (CaP TB)” project, and the WHO TB Enabler grant. Large Anonymous Donor – Landscape Analysis of Local Organisations providing SRHR Services, 2021
BroadImpact undertook a comprehensive landscaping and organizational capacity assessment exercise for a large anonymous SRHR donor, covering several LMICs in Sub-Saharan Africa, This extensive undertaking involved meticulously mapping a wide range of local organizations, including various Local NGOs and service delivery centers. A key output was the creation of a web-based directory and the execution of a robust organizational capacity assessment, which thoroughly reviewed operational structures, governance, financial management, technical capacity, and M&E capacity. The valuable results of these assessments directly informed the donor’s selection and resourcing of new partner local organizations.

Advisory on Cold Chain Product Specification and Market Access
BroadImpact was engaged by Koolboks SAS France to provide advisory on product specification and market access for eco - friendly solar-powered cold chain technology and equipment for innovative financing mechanisms in emerging markets.
BroadImpact supported the MIT COVID-19 Africa challenge to identify innovative solutions to address the continental response to the pandemic. Our team served as mentors and judges during the event and we have continued to provide guidance to challenge participants and winners towards improving and implementing their ideas.

BroadImpact and its partner CSK Research were contracted by CyLab Africa to conduct research on "Exploring Practices and Habits of Mobile Money Users in Africa and their Implications on Cybersecurity and Financial Inclusion" in Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania.
BroadImpact carried out an extensive youth mapping initiative across 33 African countries for the Open Society Foundation. This significant project culminated in the production of a rich and valuable resource on youth social movements and their access to policy spaces. This resource was presented through an interactive web-based dashboard, enhanced with geo-mapping capabilities for intuitive visualization, providing a dynamic overview of youth engagement and influence across the continent.

BroadImpact worked with the African BroadImpact was responsible for conducting two evaluations of the African Union’s Campaign to End Child Marriage in Africa. These assignments involved the systematic collation and thorough analysis of extensive data collected from all 54 member states. The evaluations aimed to assess the progress, challenges, and overall effectiveness of the campaign in mitigating child marriage across the continent, providing crucial insights for future interventions.

BroadImpact’s lead international consultant for UN Women, Addis Ababa- working with the African Union Commission conducted literature review and secondary data research on 55 African Union member states progress on ratification and implementation of charters and treaties on the rights of the Child, and legal frameworks legalizing child marriage towards the development of a compendium of child marriage laws in Africa. The compendium highlights countries implementation of the rights of the child and legal frameworks, implementation of the campaign to end child marriage recommendations for marriage laws and minimum age for marriage in Africa and was presented to Ministers of Gender at the AU High level Summit on Women. BroadImpact’s lead international consultant for UNICEF working with the African Union Commission, the AU Campaign to End Child marriage and partners conducted research to assess the Status of Child Marriage in African countries and evaluated the AU’s Campaign to End Child Marriage in Africa. This assignment involved the engaged African Union teams -Department of Social Affairs (DSA) and the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), UNFPA, UNICEF and partners and member state country representatives, the collation and analyses of data from 54 member countries campaign progress submissions, key informant interviews of country and partner focal persons, the organisation and facilitation of progress update workshops, the analysis and management of data, and the development of a 2 year report for the campaign to end child marriage detailing the status of child marriage, the campaigns impact, and recommendation for the campaign to achieve its objectives.
BroadImpact’s lead international Consultant for UNICEF working with the African Union Commission, and the AU Campaign to End Child marriage developed a Monitoring and Evaluation Framework for the African Union’s Campaign to End Child Marriage in Africa (CECM). This involved the engagement African Union teams -Department of Social Affairs (DSA) and the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), and UN bodies and other partners, the development of a logic model and M&E framework for the campaign, developed set of indicators for monitoring and evaluation of the campaign, developed reporting forms and tools for the routine reporting by 54 member countries and training guidelines and documents for use of the framework. This M&E framework presently guides all Africa member states in routine reporting on progress on the campaign to end child marriage.
